WHAT CAMERAS AND LENSES DO YOU USE?
I use a Nikon D850 and Nikon D610. They are both FX (full frame) cameras. My favorite lens and the lens I use the most is the 50mm 1.4. I also own an 35mm 1.8, 35mm 1.8, 24-70mm 2.8, & 40mm 2.8.
WHERE DO YOU FIND YOUR MODELS?
It depends. Sometimes I reach out to them and other times they reach out to me. A lot of my creative photos are collaborations. I simply just message them on IG or email them letting them know that I am super interested in working with them. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't!
HOW DO YOU POSE MODELS?
Posing can be really difficult! What I do to make it easier is play some music that matches the vibe of your photoshoot. When you get people having fun and dancing to music, everything looks more natural. I also make sure to treat everyone like a friend and do whatever I can to make people comfortable.
WHAT PROGRAM DO YOU USE??
I use photoshop CC, Adobe Premiere CS6 and Lightroom. Along with those programs I use a variety of filters/presets on my images. The ones that I use are from VSCO and Tribe Archipelago! There are also so many apps that I love like Tezza app, Lens Distortions, and StoryArt!
HOW DID YOU LEARN PHOTOGRAPHY?
Honestly, I just picked up my camera and went for it! I personally believe you can learn more if you just go out and take pictures rather than sit in a classroom and learn. Experiment! HAVE FUN!!!!!
IS PHOTOGRAPHY YOUR FULL-TIME JOB?
No! It isn't! But I like to say it is a full-time passion! I actually have my BA in Psychology and working on my Masters in Leadership. I just love all of the people I meet through my photography whether they are my clients, models, or other photographers. I also work at Apple and LOVE it!!
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE LOCATIONS??
My favorite locations are usually giant fields with long grass. I also love the forest. I lean towards nature. I also like urban areas if I am going for a specific style! As I am driving in my day to day life, I will remember cool spots I find on the way.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO SHOOT?
In my opinion, the best time to shoot is at sunset or sunrise. You will see me out at sunset 99% of the time because I am NOT a morning person! If that time doesn't work for you, find some shade to shoot in so you can avoid shadows on faces and squinting eyes from the sun! But also take on the challenge of harsh sunlight and play with light and shadows !
